Medical Equipment Donated to Public Hospitals in India
In 2002, with the generosity of a Santa Cruz (CA) philanthropist, CMS purchased and donated five Phaco Emulsification machines to five public hospitals in Mumbai (Bombay), India. Purchased from BioMedix Optotechnik in India, the machines enable physicians to perform safe, speedy, state-of-the-art cataract operations on India's poor.
CMS obtained double certification of the installation and proper operating condition of each of these machines, both from the physician-directors of the department of each hospital where the machines were installed as well as from an independent inspection paid for by our generous donor.
In 2003, from funds donated by the same philanthropist, CMS purchased and donated three more Phaco Emulsification systems and three high-speed sterilization and distilled water plants to four public hospitals in Mumbai (Bombay), India. Purchased respectively from BioMedix Optotechnik & Devices Pvt. Ltd. and My Healthskape (both in India), the machines enable physicians to perform safe, speedy, state-of-the-art cataract operations on India's poor.
